Kurum International was established in 1998 and is specialised in the production of iron-steel, electricity, industrial gases and lime. The company operates in Albania, the Kurum group’s activity, established in Turkey in 1975.

Kurum is the only iron complex in the country. After more than two decades in Albania, we cover about 85% of the domestic market. Our iron products are also exported throughout the region.
But more than an iron and steel producer, Kurum is one of the largest private sector companies in the country. We have grown over the years, with a clear motive: the future.

From the beginning, we have valued integrity and emphasized its importance in our works. We create products from which our customers and the whole community benefits and improves. We apply the latest technologies of world production standards. We never stop developing our knowledge, skills and capacities. 1998

Kurum International selects the Balkans as the target area for its expansion strategy.

The company starts operating Steel Mill and Rolling Mill Factories at the Elbasan Metallurgical Plant.

2002

After a series of investments, the Oxygen and lime Factories in Elbasan are put into operation.

2007

Production capacity increases to 550,000 tons/year.

2008

Investments begin to increase the production capacity of the Steel Plant to 420 thousand tons/year. Kurum lime starts operating under the structure of Kurum International.

2009

On the 10th anniversary of Kurum International's start, the privatization process of the Steel Production Complex in Elbasan is completed.

2010

Investments for the total renovation of the steel mill with EAF and rolling mill with ladle furnace are completed. Production capacity increases up to 450,000 tons/year, reaching a total of 700,000 tons/year.

2011

Kurum International puts into operation the scrap processing plant, the condenser. The plant had a significant impact on increasing production efficiency and reducing electricity consumption at the Steel Production Plants.

2012

Kurum International starts the procedures for the privatization of four Hydropower Plants (Ulëz & Shkopet and Bistrica 1 & 2) by the Albanian state.

2013

With the Hydraulic Power Plants, the Steel Production Plant becomes an integrated plant, which produces the energy needed for its activity.



2018

Kurum International invests in rehabilitating the Ulëz Hydraulic Power Plant in northern Albania to increase production capacity.

Kurum also renews the dust capture system at the Steel Plant to comply with European labor and environmental protection standards.
